Bithustle - Life Management

Getting you to a better place, one day at a time.

Adding a Single Task for Today

There are two ways to add a task to the current list of tasks for today. In the app, from the familiar first screen, you'll select the "To Do - Today..." tab.

You'll see the screen below. The first two entries are self explanatory. The 'Active' box needs to be checked for the book to be included in your daily planning.

The next two fields you'll enter the total number of pages in the book. Current page will start as zero, and it's likely you'll never change this number, the system manages this.

How Much Reading?

You can click the radio button that corresponds with how many books you want to read in a year. Each night when the planning software runs, it checks what you've accomplished that day, and assigns a new number based on the percentage you've chosen here.

If you've read the prescribed number of pages, you'll get the 'Points if goal met', if you fall short, you'll get a negative corresponding to the number in 'Negative points...'.

After entering the four books I'm currently reading, the screen looks like the one below. This is actually after the first day's reading has been completed, you can see the 'Current Page' is now set to 8.

How this shows on your Daily List

On the first day after you've entered the books, the 'Reading' tab will look like something below. The start page is set to zero, and the goal page is then listed (what you should read up to).

Entering what you've completed

The far right column can be edited. This is where we enter the ending page of your reading for each book. On this day, the first three books were read, but I didn't get to the final one.

What the Next Day Looks Like

The screen below shows the following day's goals for reading. As you might have guessed, the three books that were read are updated so that the 'Start Page' matches your previous day's 'Actual End Page'.

Recall, we didn't get to 'Wooden - A Coach's Life'. As you would expect, the data looks just like the day before... because I didn't get to it.

Scoring

When we entered each book, we attached points to whether reading was completed or not. For the sample entries, we kept it simple, 1 point for completing, -1 for not reading.

If you determine that one book is more important than others, you could adjust the scoring for just that book, making it a higher positive, or bigger negative. You could also choose no penalty for not reading, by setting the penalty to zero.

How are first day was scored

On day one, we completed reading for three books. For that, we get a plus 3. But, we didn't get to the last book, so that subtracts 1.

As expected, the highlighted area is '2' for reading. Had we completed the reading for the fourth book, our score would have been +4.
